So I’ve been sending out mostly weekly posts for the last year, and most of those are based on topics that I find interesting or thought-provoking in the world of human decision making and psychology. But I thought now might be a terrific time to check in with you.
Whether you’re a subscriber or just a casual follower, I’d love to know what kinds of topics you’re most interested in. Are there questions you’ve been wrestling with? Ideas you’d like to see explored more deeply? Weird corners of human behavior you’d be curious to dive into?
Over the past year, I’ve written about things like:
Why people get so worked up over government “waste”
What AI is doing to our expertise and intuition
What choice architecture and nudging are and why they work sporadically to affect our decision making
Why data can tell completely different stories depending on the frame
The psychology behind hypocrisy (spoiler: it’s not always a character flaw)
That’s just a small sample, but hopefully enough to give you a sense of the terrain.
I’ve also ventured into the world of audio eels—AI-generated conversations that revisit and unpack earlier posts. Do you like those? Hate them? Ignore them completely? (No judgment.) I’ve noticed the views aren’t stellar, so if there’s a way to make them better or more engaging, I’m all ears. In fact, I have a little poll for you all.
Anyway, here we are—the focus of my latest post. What do you think? What would you like to see more of? Are there topics you’d like me to explore that I haven’t yet or haven’t in a way you’d like to see?
Drop me a line in the comments or message me.
Matt, given your background in psychology it would be interesting to know, in a way accessible to non-specialists, some of the major trends in the discipline in recent decades, not to mention how it evolved over the last century or more. Perhaps a niche interest, but at least the way I tend to think, this might be useful.
